Wolsingham reveals crime worries

POLICE in Wolsingham will carry on targeting speeding cars, anti-social behaviour and dog fouling after townsfolk said they were their biggest concerns.

This week members of the community met with police officers and a street warden to discuss the issues affecting their town.

PC Ian Craggs said they were already putting on extra patrols to stop anti-social behaviour and speeding vehicles and promised that would continue. He said: “We have also seized alcohol from underage people in the town and we feel that an extra presence is making a difference.”

Street warden Louis Hodkinson once again reiterated the need for dog walkers to take responsibility for their pets when they foul in public.

One resident said a wedding party at a church in the town was ruined when one of the bridesmaids stepped in a fresh pile of dog dirt minutes after the pavement had been cleaned.
Louis said: “It is disgraceful and a total lack of respect for other people.

“If we catch someone not clearing up after their dog they will be issued a fixed penalty notice there and then.

“I am constantly going to schools to talk to and educate children about why it is so unacceptable but unfortunately a lot of adults seem to take no responsibility.”
