Hobbies bonanza event will be Out of this World

CROOK Community Partnership is running an Out of This World hobby event next month. The event is the start of this year’s Crook and District Festival Week and takes place on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at St. Catherine’s Community Centre on Crook Market Place between 11am and 3pm.

Out of This World is bringing together a wide range of hobbies from local groups and the whole of the County and will stretch across the generations and interests. This is an event for all of the family, and the first 25 children to arrive will receive goodie bags.

There will be a big Sci-Fi themed fancy dress competition with Dr. Who prizes for the lucky winners and runners up, a large tombola and a raffle including prizes donated by stall holders.

High street hobby store Games Workshop will be holding a game and painting demonstrations as well as selling some of their merchandise at the event. Other groups attending include the local writers’ group from Crook who are advertising their book launch the following week, Stanhope Photographic Society will be showcasing some of the wonderful pictures taken by their members.(They will also be judging the Photographic competition for the Festival.)

The Film and Television Model Club will also be displaying a selection of models from their members as well as film and TV related items.

There will also be a large Scalextric track for people to have a race on and add a bit of competition to the proceedings and a card making demonstration where you will have the chance to learn this intricate hobby.
