Dogs fetch £500 for ambulance
PUPS and pooches from a Wear Valley dog training club handed over £500 to the Great North Air Ambulance this week. (May 30)The Crook and District Dog Training Club was formed in the 1960s and aims to give dogs good citizenship. For the past six years it has raised money each year to be split between a human and animal charity.
Great North Air Ambulance fundraising manager Janet Hume said: “£500 will keep the helicopter in the air for half an hour, in which time we can save a life. They have made a fantastic effort for us here and we appreciate everything we can get. You don’t now how important the air ambulance is until you need it, and you never know when it could be you that needs help.”

Club chairman Evelyn Grayton said: “Thanks to our dog owners we raised £100 each for the Air Ambulance and the Fir Tree Greyhound Trust, but decided to give an extra £400 to the ambulance from our funds because you never know when you might need it to save you.”
