Psychic tunes into talent
CROOK psychic Dean “Midas” Maynard hopes he’ll be stretching his luck tomorrow across two TV channels.Dean is backing Jodie Prenger on BBC One’s I’ll Do Anything while hoping his support for Escala, a female string quartet, will see them crowned winners of Britain’s Got Talent if they get through tonight’s semi-final.
Dean, who was recently dubbed King Of Reality TV because of the support he has shown to numerous acts on reality TV shows including X Factor’s Niki Evans and last year Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Damon Scott said: “It’s going to be a tense night as I’m hoping my fortune will carry on. I’m on a good run and I don’t want it to end.
“It’s a two way street because I rely on their natural talent and they rely on my positive support. I have been speaking to Jodie’s mother because it’s very difficult to speak to Jodie herself, but she has been passing on my support. “It’s very easy to get very tense and nervous before going on stage but I want to remind them they can do it and to believe in themselves. I try to get people in the right mind-set and motivate them to succeed.”
Escala, who Simon Cowell described as “incredible”, are a four piece string quartet who would look more at home on an Italian catwalk than a classical concert.
Dean said: “My wife wasn’t too happy when I decided to support them, but as always it was a gut feeling, just like with Jodie. I always rely on my instincts and go for someone who is very likeable and obviously a nice person. Obviously they are very talented, but I think they have that extra something and firmly believe they can do well.”
