Party time after romping home to maiden race win

THE champagne flowed last Sunday evening, May 11, after plucky lady jockey Ann Wilson, pictured right, rode nine-year-old chestnut mare Rose Debois to victory in a three-mile maiden point-to-point at Mosshouses, Lauderdale, in Scotland.

It was Ann’s first winner for owner’s Keith and Christine Anderson from Witton-le-Wear. Christine said, “We are absolutely thrilled to bits because it is our first ever winner.”

The couple have had Rose Debois a long time and she has become part of the family. Meanwhile, exuberant jockey Ann said, ”Rosie whipped round at the start and we lost about 30 lengths.

“However I gradually brought her back into the race and three fences from home as she was jumping brilliantly I thought we had a chance here. “She only needed a bit urging on to go on to win the race. I’m not joking when I say that the party we had afterwards was awesome.”
