ELECTION RESULTS
MORE than 50,000 voters took to the polls in Wear Valley to select their representatives on the new unitary authority.While Liberal Democrats and Labour have six councillors each, it was a good night for 20 year-old local conservative Becky Brunskill who won a seat with 17 per cent of the votes in Willington, while Labour Councillor Brian Myers was also elected with 13 per cent.
It will be a case of two Ed’s are better than one in Crook South after Independent candidate Eddie Murphy and Labour man Eddie Tomlinson were elected, with just 20 votes separating the two. Cllr Murphy resigned from the Labour just weeks before the elections over the party’s controversial candidate selection process.

Weardale will be represented by two who received nearly 31 per cent of the votes, and Anita Savory with just under 16 per cent. RESULTS
