Still Tops of the crops after 40 years
TOPS hairdressers on Church Street, Crook, is celebrating 40 years of successful snipping on May 17.Owner Eddie Gibson started up on his own in 1967, and has been king of the cuts ever since.
Mr Gibson said: ³I started out as a Saturday boy and then when I left school I went to work full time for a hairdressers in Meadowfield.
³The secret is hard work, putting in the hours and being there when your customers needs you.² ³I¹ve had customers who¹ve been coming in from the start which is pretty great.² Mr Gibson runs the shop with help from his wife Rosemary and has trained with Vidal Sassoon and Alan International.
He said: ³In the ¹70s I did a lot of ladies¹ hairdressing and travelled all over the country for seminars and training.
³The best thing about the business is meeting people from all walks of life.
Mr Gibson had a shop at Belle Vue, on Wheatbottom Road, Crook, before moving the shop to where it stands today.
