Tick forms keeping tabs on poachers

AS the fight against poaching in Weardale rumbles on, farmers and gamekeepers are finding new ways to log incidents.
Kenneth Elgey, river and countryside group coordinator, said: ³We have designed simple tick box forms where victims of such incidents can record what has happened easily.
³These will now be readily available from other coordinators.
³Recently, I have heard of incidents where lambs are being shot at with air rifles.
³We also know that one Weardale farmer had three deer killed on his land, skinned, and their carcasses dumped for him to clear up.
³As we build up information about these countryside crimes we will be able to tackle the problem more effectively.²
