Collectors dig deep to help out nurses

A VINTAGE collector¹s club has raised more than £1,000 for cancer care nurses.
The Hamsterley and District Vintage Collectors met at Butterknowle Village Hall and raised funds for MacMillan Nurses.
Members enjoyed a pie and peas supper and danced to music played by Jeff and Hutch, Remember When and Steve Conway.
A total of £1,300 was raised with a grand raffle and an auction.
Lot in the auction included a signed t-shirt donated by Middlesbrough Football Club; a half-hour golf lesson at Headlam Hall; a round of golf at Bishop Auckland Golf Club and meals at Burtree Inn near Darlington and The Manor Hotel at West Auckland.
Club secretary Carol Johnson said: ³Everyone I have spoken too really enjoyed the evening.
³The members and committee would like to thank everyone who came along and all who donated prizes.
³The club would also like to thank Gladys Sparks who drew the raffle and to Member Thomas Lee for helping get the event off the ground.²
