Children minding their own business!

BUDDING brains at Crook Primary school have been channelling their entrepreneurial skills into their very own fledgling businesses.
Jambo Jewels and Crazy Crook Crunchies have proved to be roaring successes thanks to the hard work of the children, and teachers Mrs Carnighan and Miss Young.
With Jambo Jewels, the children sell jewellery and hand carved wooden animals made by their partner school, Mdawi Primary, in Tanzania.
Whereas Crazy Crook Crunchies are delicious healthy oat bars with their very own catch phrase ŒIf you get the munchies, grab a Crazy Crook Crunchie!¹.
The children got their first chance to test their products at a recent craft fair at St Catherine¹s Community centre and both ideas proved a huge success and sold out in record time.
The children have been planning their ideas since January with each pupil taking a key role in organising each Œcompany¹: promoting the product, administration, finance, market research and management.
All of the children were hand picked for the projects and Mrs Carnighan¹s Year four group, who run Jambo Jewels, went through a rigorous process of applying for a place and going through interviews to win a spot.
Mrs Carnighan said: ³We treat this as a real business and it¹s really exciting.
³The children have worked together brilliantly and helped each other out a lot.
³It¹s been a real eye opener!
³When the children interviewed for a place they were really nervous but they still managed to impress.
³Kelwyn said ŒI am nervous but I¹m buzzing with ideas¹ and that clinched him a place.² Steven Ross, said: ³I¹ve been doing the finance and because we sold £86 of Crazy Crook Crunchies we¹ve made £64 profit.² Mrs Carnighan¹s group consists of mini moguls; Kelwyn Carrick, Sarah Bunton, Hannah Wilson, Meghan Heslop, Georgia Currah, Georgia Wright, Ashleigh Robinson, Jack McIntyre and Kayleigh Scott.
Miss Young¹s team of entrepreneurs is made up of; Demi Mould, Steven Ross, Connor Brennan, Liam Simpson, Warren Duke, Harry Walker, Emma Jacob, Megan Holden, Alex Yorke, Hayley Dixon.
The idea for Jambo jewels was formed when Miss Young and Mrs Carnighan visited Mdawi Primary school in Tanzania.
