Tracing my Family History - Who was Titch Nelson?

Mr Alan Stephenson
19 Nov 2006

Dear Sir,

I am writing to ask your readers if they can help me establish the relationship of 'Uncle Titch (Sidney) Nelson' to my Nan who was called Isabella (Bella) Stephenson (nee Nelson) and lived in Crook.

I have been tracing my family tree for the last few years and would like to confirm that I have followed the correct Nelson line. According to Census records my Great Grandfather John Nelson was born in 1873 in Stockton on Tees and had two children - Isabella and Charles but there is no record of Sidney. I was led to believe that Sidney was Bella's brother - Was he Charles?

I'm hopeful that some of your readers in Crook would be able to remember Titch as I believe he was a bit of a character. I was born in Crook in 1943 and was in fact the only child born in the old Bellvue Working Men's Club where my maternal Grandfather was the Steward.

I would really appreciate you publishing this letter and would love to hear from any of your readers who can help.

Yours Sincerely, Mr. Alan Stephenson
